Building The Set - Trees

The design I chose for the trees is quite consistent and have a 2D look and feel. The reason for is that I want it the film to still look a bit quirky without being very realistic.

Firstly, for the trunk, I used 3 wooden parts, which I then filed them to give them smooth edges.

Trunks

I later used small wooden bars to make the branches, which are also consistent and in the same size according to where they are placed in the trunk. Holes were drilled in the trunks to ensure these small branches fit perfectly in them.

Branches

Afterwards, the leaves were created using twine and wire. I unwrapped the twine, then put it in between two wires, which were later twisted using the drill to give the look of a full branch.

These leaves sets were later inserted inside the branches I made earlier. Using a file, I sharpened the edges of the branches to make them look more pointed.

Later on, trunks and branches were spray painted with mainly brown and green with a hint of orange.
